Advanced Tools and Techniques

Some projects are more challenging then others.

Some are more complex, have complicated schedules, more people involved, or risks that are hard to nail down. It can be very useful to have a few advanced tools and techniques in your tool box to help.

This course will focus on two key areas; scheduling, and risk.

The scheduling unit focuses on three tools and clever techniques to develop a schedule (results chain, work break down structure, and the critical path) so you, your team, and your leader can be confident the project schedule is as short as it should be.

The risk section provides a simple, repeatable risk process to help you identify, assess, and develop mitigations for key risks to your project. The critical path discussed in the scheduling unit sets you up to focus on risks to the critical path as these will have the most significant impact on your project.

You can use a real project you are working on as a case study for the exercises you will complete as part of the course, so not only do you learn the tools and techniques, you finish the course with material to apply directly to your project.

You will be provided with templates for the tools, and examples you can refer to during the course, and afterwards.
