‘leadmark: the point by which you set and maintain your course’

 Project Training for Business People

Based in Calgary, Alberta, Leadmark Project Delivery has delivered services focused on the early stages of oil and gas project development since 2017. The services use fit-for-purpose project governance to help companies achieve the maximum value from their projects.

Leadmark is now focused on delivering training that helps people get things done and deliver valuable results.  The training is aimed at business people who are leading, or participating in, business projects. It draws on best practices, mistakes made, and lessons learned from 46 years of experience accumulated as a farmer, as a Naval Officer, and as a Project Leader.

The training has been delivered to hundreds of people in Western Canada and the United States, and consistently receives excellent feedback and reviews.

The examples, coupled with the slides and candid teachings, really took what felt like a daunting task seem achievable and even exciting! Just really focusing on how the finish line can look different if the foundation isn't well thought out and to take the extra time to ensure the overall concept targets your ask/need/want effectively.

All of the course was of value, the methods and tools Doug presented are very helpful and the templates I will be saving for later reference/use.

All topics were useful to learn the overall process of how my company manages projects of varying scopes. Now that I've been taught the step-by-step process, I can apply this to ad hoc projects that come up, or coach and mentor others who may be delegated a project.

There was a ton of useful information. One that really stood out to me was the planning to make a good decision. I think this is a great layout to utilize, we have used decision records in the past, I really like the ranking the various inputs to visually show how each option impacts the inputs.

I think the project identification and initial assessment is the most useful tool to me. I never thought of approaching things like my personal/professional goals as a "project". I think this will provide me with a higher degree of organization/initial input into my goals and allow me for front end loading giving me a clear path to completion.

I really like the part where we developed the project charter, because it helped to think deeply about the project, the value it would create and all the considerations to be made to drive it along the various stages.
